What? Never heard Dream Theatre?...that must suck.

Dream theatre is home to an awesome guitarist (John Petrucci) and a similarly great bass player ( John Myung )

Give them a listen...as to what sort of music they play, I find it best described as a sort of classic metal with more mainstream friendly melodies etc...perhaps a pop-metal of sorts, although it is not fair to use that as a genre to describe them...Think Queensryche...With Balls!

Take a listen...They rock

One guy who often seems to be left off this kind of list is David Gilmore even though he is awesome...others that also seem to miss these things are guys like Mark Knopfler and a reallty awesome classical axeman called Segovia

Thanks, Yngtchie, although I don't see how #103 on your list ever beat out #121....[/sarcasm]
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Well, all I can say is that I wasn't very accurate when I made the list. Besides, Reb Beach has bad-mouthed Hendrix, and that does not qualify for a high spot on any of my lists. And I talk with Rusty almost daily, he's a really nice guy.

I love these posts... who's your favorite? what??? that dude sucks!! you gotta hear this! =) kills me every time.

There are soooooo many people out there that move me and inspire me to keep at it that the list is dizzying.

I do like the 'ole standards
SRV
Clapton
Hendrix
yadda yadda
(fill in your guitar great here)

but I will say that there are so many people that I've been turned onto just from reading the posts (good things do come from here!)

The latest on my finds is a guy in Oregon called Justin King. He's got this acoustic, slap, tap, funk thing going on that is just insane....

back to the point of the post... my all time favorite, hands down, there is no substitue (porsche!) is SRV. My brother took me as a suprise to see him on New Years eve of 89 - 90 in NYC and I've been hooked ever since.
