Bands don't always have the power to put themselves on TV, and they definately can't put themselves in your CD player. Executives (many of whom don't know jack about music and what's good) decide what goes on TV.

Dream Theater is a quintet: John Petrucci on guitar, John Myung on bass, Mike Portnoy on drums, Kevin LaBrie (who goes by his middle name James, since there was another Kevin [Moore, then keyboardist] in the band when he joined) on vocals, and finally Jordan Rudess. These guys are MONSTERS when it comes to technique, without being bland ala Malmsteen - and this is especially evident on their latest album. In my opinion, LaBrie is the worst in the band, though most bands with really good guitarists seem to have bad vocalists (though LaBrie isn't bad, he's not as good as the other members). If they had someone like Symphony X's Russell Allen singing, Dream Theater would be the best band ever, period (IMO, that is).

I really suggest you go out and pick up Dream Theater's "Images and Words" and "Train of Thought". If you like that, pick up their other albums; if not, sorry. I doubt you'll be disappointed, though.
