That's exactly why I put the "open string" between quotation marks.
Your left hand is doing legato runs that include notes that do not require the left hand to fret anything. The notes that are not fretted by the left hand normally are open strings, which is why I refered to it as that, but in this case those notes are simply fretted by the right hand.
