You don't think detuning is becoming generic these days?

My band tunes down to D standard(or is it D open???)...
None of that one finger lazy playing going on.
I hear some bands(cappy usually)tuning a step and a half or more down...right down C!
I think D standard is fine or even just a half step down is good. All of my riffs/songs are around the fifth fret so its not cheesy/generic sounding.I dont think anyone(besides my bass player)even notices that we play in D standard instead of E standard.
Plus it helps me and the bassist back our singer up better.

and yes the dropped down nu metal proggressions are very generic, but I wouldnt say that a specific tuning is generic...the tuning is just abused.

Detuning is "generic" as bagged cereal.

I like dropping down to E. Makes bending real easy.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Yeah, that was another one of my cheesy jokes gone horribly wrong. I was trying ot imply that I was drop tuning a whole octave, but I guess my sarcasm just didn't shine through.

Or maybe they were impressed with your ability to play bass :)
