I've seen many a beer, shot, and mixed drink up on stage in my day- I think it comes down to not drinking so much that you can't function at 100%. But I've seen everybody from local acts playing slide with a beer bottle or bar glass to Larry LaLonde of Primus spitting a mouthful of beer directly into the air at the finish of a guitar solo (just as the lights went off... you should have seen it).
