I still get this with up tempo stuff that I haven’t adjusted to yet, and it can still happen when I am letting myself get sloppy on slower stuff, but at 1st, it was on everything.
It took slowing everything thing down and focusing on just getting notes rightfor a given lick, not worrying about tempo. Eventually, with lots of practice my fingers began falling into correct position and I could pick the tempo up a bit. So it will come together. In terms of how long it might take, I know there are licks that I have hundreds if not close to 1000 repetitions into, just to get them as right as I can get them.
also, it’s important to learn how to mute strings, either with your fretting hand or with your picking hand. I’m sure there are lessons on here if you search for them in the search bar under muting, or you can probably find videos on YouTube
this instrument takes a lot of dedication and repetition.
in terms of uploading videos, you would need to record your video upload it to YouTube and then paste a link into your post. The icon for the link looks like the chain-link and the upper taskbar.

Many thanks Bill. I’m really enjoying learning to play and will persevere for sure. Although I already play other musical instruments I’m beginning to appreciate that the guitar is completely different and is going to take a lot of time and dedication. I’m up for the challenge.
Regarding the video upload, it’s maybe no bad thing that I couldn’t upload directly to the forum….my playing was terrible 😊. I’ll do as you say and upload to YouTube next time.
