Bill is correct in what he says.

My two cents.....I don't necessarily think that learning on an acoustic will be "easier" though. Both types have their own challenges. I personally find the average acoustic to feel very "boxy" when I pick one up and I have issues as to how to hold my right arm (picking/strumming hand) as the electrics are usually slimmer and more comfortable But both electric and acoustic, come in all different shapes and sizes. Whatever you choose, be sure to find ones that are comfortable to play.
