Reviewing the fundamentals is a great idea.  This would give you a specific list of skills to practice while you are getting back in shape.  It would also serve as a review of skills & ideas you'll need to have under your command when you restart the rock course.  And as you mention you will likely be able to work through them quicker this time.  You might even consider just starting at GF 2.
