I don’t see as big a difference in tone as feel. The tone can be adjusted with the controls on your guitar and amp. Stevie Ray Vaughan played 13s and Billy Gibbons plays 7s. Tony Iommi plays 8- 32s with the two highest strings both being 8s, there is no question if his sound is heavy. Both sound great. I use 10s on my 24.75 and 25 scale guitars and 9s on my 26.5.
