{G Ionian... G Dorian; etc
me thinks the latter is more directly "subversive"
in that the tonal center is the same; but the intervals in relation to it are changed
it's interesting to me that the amount of deviation kind bounces back and fourth through the modes
sort of like the circle of fourths/fifths bounces back and fourth
Ionian, Mixolydian (in terms of degree of deviation from Ionian: just a flatted 7)
oh wait that IS a fifth
