Hi BP9

Glad you've found a good workaround for yourself! As yossarian22 says, "it doesn't matter what fingering you use to fret a chord, so long as you can play it cleanly."

I would add 2 points to that: 1: if you CAN manage the standard recommended fingering after some dedicated practice, there may be good reasons behind WHY those standard fingerings are recommended - for use in musical technique contexts you haven't gotten to yet in your studies.

But if you can't, you can't, and that should be fine...

....as long as this is true: you CAN get good clean tone out of your alternate fingering, AND, in the flowing context of a song, you are able to GET TO your preferred fingering cleanly and on time, and get yourself on to the next chord in the song cleanly and on time.

If all that falls into place, you're golden!

Have fun!
