Hi from Australia.

Quick question, sorry to show my ignorance but I have no prior music experience and just started with Guitar Tricks lessons. I wanted to know, do I stay on each lesson untill they are burnt into my memory. Everytime I pick up the guitar i feel like I'm starting from scratch again. Buying my first guitar and starting to learn has given me a new found respect for musicians. I just wonder if the lessons will eventually click. Would love to know how others found the initial experience.

Welcome

It's a bit of a balancing act between staying on a lesson and building muscle memory and dealing with frustration and boredom. I think it's important to know when to take a break and move onto something new, but knowing you need to go back and pickup on the previous lesson. This has worked for me.

The feeling of starting fresh each time is normal. And now that I moved out of novice level there are still times I don't want to pickup the guitar because what I am practicing is so difficult - for me. But the donuts won't cook themselves, so I push ahead.

Things will start to come together with regular continued practice.

Best of luck

I stay on the same lesson until a have the material down okay. I will then save it in favorites to go back to and move on. Once I can nail it every time, I remove it from favorites unless it has something that I enjoy playing along with then I will keep it.

It's common to feel like you're starting from scratch every session, especially at the beginning. However, each time you repeat an exercise or lesson, you're gradually consolidating what you're learning. Even if it seems difficult and you feel like you're not making immediate progress, every little bit of effort counts.
