Sounds like one guitar is playing that 1/16th note funky part with the wah.  Then another clean guitar enters playing upbeat staccato chord stabs.  When the vocals enter the clean guitar hits long held chords with a little drive & sustain.  In the post-chorus section the wah guitar changes to slow sweeping instead of wah-ka-wah-ka.

So you can probably do it with 2 guitars.  The wah guitar & the other guitar switching between clean staccato chord stabs & engaging a slight overdrive (or turn up the volume) then back down for the clean sections.

There is quite a bit of swirly, sweeping sound from a synth or two.  And of course the string section.  So you might want to use a chorus or phaser on the clean guitar to mimic those timbres for those sections.

Anders covers using a wah pedal in this tutorial.
