Just get a metrinome and play ascending and descending patterns in different scale positions to build strength and speed with both the left and right hand. Play in every key possible. Don't get stuck just learning one really well. Start at fret one and move down the fretboard doing the same thing with the same scale starting from the next position down half a step once you go down and up a few times on the strings.

Do it with all those crazy scales that the other dudes posted and use the charomatic exercises.

Utilize a metrinome and various note patterns and rhythms. Say triplet patterns doing one triplet pattern using 3 notes in a scale 4x in a row.

ex:

--5-----5-----5-----5------
----8-7---8-7---8-7---8-7--
---------------------------

continued throughout the scale. There and back again.

That will build speed mighty fast. Just do it slow a lot to build strength and coordination for greater speed and accuracy.

Practice all the time for like 30 minutes straight at least a day. In a few months you should be mighty and powerful on the guitar.
