Turning off file sharing still won't keep you from being targeted, since they go into your computer from certain ports. Personally, they can take you to court and sue the hell out of you, but the court can't MAKE you pay them, legally. They can say you owe them such and such an amount, but they (the court) cannot legally go after you if you default. The record company is going to have to hire a collection agency to hound you. That's when you get caller ID and never answer anything that doesn't show a name and number.
Also if someone broke into my computer from the net, who's to say they didn't set off a virus that destroyed my computer ( I happen to have one on disk just for this purpose). I just might have to sue.... I figure if a lady can sure for coffee being hot, I should be able to figure out a way to sue for damages. Just another frivilous lawsuit waiting to happen...
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?
