To try and answer your question where others have evaded is that the studio version is made to sound like the les paul with out all the estetics. Things like pearl inlays, finish, tunning knobs, etc, are less expensive on the studio paul so that all you get is essentiall the "les sound". How close it comes to emulating that sound however i do not know, and you need the try it out before you buy.
