To be honest I'd get the nicest mic pre amp I could afford and work one or two channels at a time.

Focusrite are really good preamp, they weigh in at about 600 USD. Im using a Behringer ultra voice pro (100USD) and an ART TPS (200 USD) at the moment, both are better than the pre amps on the Korg however Im moving up to Focusrite as soon as I can afford it ! I was going to get a Gibson Les Paul but that may have to wait !

As for guitars and basses, do you have an S/PDIF in put on your sound card ? If so recording direct into your card using a Pod or a GNXx works really well ! Bass Im shooting through either a Pod pro or the ART TPS via a SansAmp Bass DI (lovely bit of kit) and that sounds really nice !

Do get nice monitors as soon as you can, mixing with non-flat response speakers is very difficult as you automatically over / under compensate EQ and end up with a bass heavy / light mix !

I have just seen a Focusrite mic pre, Comp. / EQ for 400 at zzsounds.... Cool !
