Electric Guitars are the inspiration for cries of "Turn that damn thing down"-Gibson website

I recently recieved a harmonica as a gift. Too bad for me I don't know how to play it, but I am keen on learning. It is in the key of "A" and has the numbers 1 to 10 on the "mouthpiece". So how do I figure out what number is what note. Do I follow the A Major scale or A Minor scale? Can I use my guitar theory to find out the notes? Or because its in the key of "A", does it just mean that the #1 is an "A" note?
