Let's keep in mind until the British guys plugged in and then sent it back to the states, all blues was on acoustic. There was no electric blues until then.
And yeah @Tinpan when I'm feeling lazy I will often just pick up the acoustic to practice even if the piece is for electric. Oh wait! That's all the time!! In keeping with the season I am working a "Jingle Bells Blues". Definitely designed for electric but when I find I have only a couple minutes I grab the acoustic.
And I will 3rd, if you master on acoustic you may very well find it easier when you do plug in. So yes, you should be fine working the material on acoustic.
