Be careful with "Playing through the pain". If done enough, this can lead to chronic infirmity. Try to find out how much you can play and stop short of that limit when you practice. That limit will undoubtly grow with time, so go back a check that time limit occasionaly. If it hurts the day after your play.... probably a good idea to stop playing until the pain is gone. Ice packs or Ice massage can also help both before practice and after. Streching before and after can also help.

Don't let you limitations end your progress, but pay attention to chronic pain issues.
