Same with ESP's but they have alittle more of a smoothed out HEAVY sound too them. I've seen them used for leads but then again most have upgraded their pickups. When factory bought there good, but I still see them more of a rhythm guitar.
Schector's are good from what I hear. I have never owned one or know anyone who has but I've seen a few bands with them live and they sounded pretty good.
Epiphone's are good guitars, well the body anyways. Their hardware is another story. Everyone I know has owned one and for a couple of months they're great. Then everything starts to go wrong. So unless you have some extra green laying around to upgrade the hardware on it, I wouldn't advice one.
Yahama as far as I know are very good guitars. I own a Yahama bass and I had it for 4 1/2 and not one thing has gone wrong with it. I have also recorded several tracks with it, and the sound is very nice. So I'm thinking the guitars are the same way. A good starting guitar. :)
My pick and highest recommendation goes to FENDER(not Squier). I own a Tele and a Strat and I have never had any problems, nor has any of my friends. They are made from one of the highest and most respected names in guitars, so they are made well and you can count of their quality. They are cheap, and fairly easy to maintain cause the hardware is usually good. The only downfall might be if your a metal guitarist. Fender guitars are sometimes alittle too twangy for a traditional metalhead. I like the sound, but thats my opinion. When metalized(as I like to put it), they put out a clearer and stronger tone than Ibanez's or Esp's. :D
