I'm not sure if this is the answer you're looking for, but... many amps have footswitches you can buy that do nothing but switch channels on the amp. This isn't a normal feature for multi effects pedals such as amp modelers like the Digitech RP200, but when you have an amp modeler, you don't need to switch channels on your amp, you switch between amp settings on your pedal.
