i recommend getting an Epiphone or Squier for a good cheap beginner guitar. they have a little less quality then a real Gibson or Fender but they are terrific beginner guitars. just any relatively good guitar company that doesn't charge too much. my first guitar was a Samick Strat and it is just as good as my friends Squier Strat, but of course i now have an Ibanez RG421 that can kick his ass.
but anyway, Epiphone or Squier is good but any guitar that feels good and easy to play is a great start.
