They're are a wide range of guitars for under 250. Squier, Epiphone, and Ibanez. If your just a beginner I would first look for a guitar that stays in tune and plays well.

All guitars are different, so it's best to try out quite a few until you find the one that you feel sounds the best. Just don't buy a sh*tty one out of a sears catalog!
