So I just joined guitartricks and had a quick glance at the lessons and I saw that for the guitar fundamentals 1 and 2 courses, the lessons are taught on an acoustic guitar. I currently have an electric guitar with me and I was wondering if following the lessons on the electric would also be possible ? Has anyone followed the lessons on an electric guitar before ?

Also, I am aware that the concepts on both the electric and acoustic remains the same and I have also heard that playing first on an acoustic guitar helps build finger strength.

Thanks !

Yes, following the acoustic lessons on electric is totally fine! It should mostly even be easier for you, since as DJ Lawrence pointed out electric is easier to play (all other things being equal). The strings are lighter, etc.
