Great question! Most classic or well known melodies use a few general principles.

1. Make small similar sequences. Play a few notes in a row in a specific rhythm. Repeat that rhythm with different sequence of notes from the scale.

2. Use a combination of step wise motion & leaps. (steps) c-d-e, d-e-f (leap) g-c.

3. Make a "story arc" with one or two high points or low points.

But all of that is beside the point if you are still just working on the mechanics of playing single note lines. Just play the scale in little fragments until it becomes second nature. And the best place to learn any musical concept or skill is imitation.

With that in mind you might enjoy these simple single note melodies!
