What if I was never sane? How would anyone know if they were mad? If they were really mad perhaps they would think they were sane? When I was mad I knew damn well I mad but was pretty sure that sanity involved taking on advantagous forms of ignorance to protect ones own feelings of self-worth. Hence I considered myself to be mad and enlightened and many others to be sane and wrong. Frankly being mad was much more interesting than being sane (which I think I am now) but I wouldn't want to try it again, it's too damaging to interpersonal relationships.
