In general, you can adjust the normal major or minor diatonic chord quality sequences. For example, if you are starting on the 2nd mode of the major scale, dorian, then you start on the 2nd chord quality of the major scale.

For example, the sequence of chord qualities in standard major is:

C - E - G = 1-3-5 (the "1 chord") C major chord[br]D - F - A = 2-4-6 (the "2 chord") D minor chord[br]E - G - B = 3-5-7 (the "3 chord") E minor chord[br]F - A - C = 4-6-1 (the "4 chord") F major chord[br]G - B - D = 5-7-2 (the "5 chord") G major chord[br]A - C - E = 6-1-3 (the "6 chord") A minor chord[br]B - D - F = 7-2-4 (the "7 chord") B diminished chord

You can keep all those chords & harmonies. But think of them as D dorian instead of C major.

So, the standard is

1 - major

2 - minor

3 - minor

4 - major

5 - major

6 - minor

7 - diminished

So, if you start a chord progression on the 2nd degree to use dorian, then you would shift the numbers over one chord, but keep the chord quality of major or minor.

1 - minor

2 - minor

3 - major

4 - major

5 - minor

6 - diminished

7 - major
