Minor chordes are used in major keys, so dont worry about that.
In C major there are the chordes C major, D minor, E minor, F major, G 7th, A minor and B diminished. My progression could go like C maj to Am back to C maj then to G 7th then back to C. Whatever floats your boat, the point is, wether a key is major or minor doesn't mean you only use either major or minor chordes. Both are used.
