Benoit . . . nice track. You've got a nice Santana/old rock thing going on there. I like the resolution at 0:30.

I'm expecting this "competition" is going to turn into a lame, tiddly-fingers wankfest to see who can cram the most notes into a measure, like most guitar contests usually do, but you turned in a nice piece of melodic soloing. Hats off to you.

Here's the backing track I composed for the solo. It sounds better now, I re mixed it a bit. Added some reverb.

should be up at this address

Like the other one, cut and paste in browser. You could, like Christoph said play a ton of notes in the mesure but I feel this soundclips is good for playing slow/melodic solo. Really good for beginners, just try to play some licks you've learned and fit them in tempo.

I can play some malmsteen licks but it's not in me to fit them in a solo. So if some of you have problems with building solos, maybe you're just trying to play things not meant for you, things you're not confortable with. Let the feeling go as some would say.

I've heard Lalimace solo, it was really great but I could never play that. Even if I was good enough to play as fast as he does, It wouldn't sound half as good as him since I wouldn't feel confortable with it. He does master his own style.

If you use this backing track, please post your solo, I would really like to see the feeling you'll put into it. Cause in the end it's all about feeling. A solo without feeling is like a happy meal without the toy, it's still good but it's missing something.... :)
