Hey everyone,
I just signed up for full access. I've always wanted to learn guitar and finally my job and family life allows me the time to commit and practice. I started taking weekly lessons back in February from a teacher at the local music store where I bought my guitar. I've learned from him but have never felt like there was any structure in place and the lessons were rather haphazard. He is primarily a rhythym guitar instructor and I didn't feel like I was getting where I would like to be, so I researched all the online programs and found myself here. I can play most of the major chords including D, A, E, Am, Em, E7, A7, Dm, D7, C, G, and just starting to get that darn F chord. I also know some strumming patterns and basic arpeggios. I'm not sure exactly where to start, but figured I would go from the beginning lessons to see what I may have missed. I'm now on the basic melodies which I did not do while taking lessons. I have a few beginner questions.
First, should I just go through all the beginner lessons and fast forward thru what I already know? Second, how proficient should you get before moving on to the next lesson? And finally, should I start looking for easy songs to play while doing all of this?
Thanks for any suggestions. I am totally committed to learning the guitar and doing whatever it takes. I do get a little frustrated at times but refuse to quit. So far I really like what I see on Guitartricks!
