You can set up the banks in many ways - there are no rules!! Whatever makes the most sense for your situation.

For example, a gigging guitarist might organize banks into song lists - and have specific presets programmed for every song they play.

You've brought up 2 great examples of how to organize banks - and either can work great! As you mentioned, you could set up banks based on genre, or by type of sound (clean, crunch, lead, etc).

Another idea is to use one bank as your main bank with all of your most commonly used presets organized into it.
