I thought I'd ask you all as it's something I've been working on lately.

What I'm talking about is getting all the parts together, like intro, verse chords, choras chords, guitar breaks and solo so they flow together without messy little breaks between them. It's the kind of thing a good 'lone guitarist' masters...people like Page, Hendrix etc who dont have another player to cover up if they go wrong.

Sometimes it's hard to do a break and then remember what chord you have to come back in on. Similarly if I've improvised a solo, I might end up in a place I didn't intend and think 'help! how do I get back to where I need to be?!'

For those of you who know the song I've tried practicing along with the Smashing Pumpkins 'Bury Me' which is possible with only one guitar....I'm almost getting it to run through smoothly, the main problem is the solo and then getting back to the D chord as the choras bit starts imediately after the solo. Plus I've learned everything by ear and worked out the best way of playing the song for me, which may not be exactly how James Iha did it.

So how well do you guys do it and how much playing in bands or in your room did it take you to get that flow in your music?
