First off, thanks for the HC made easy lessons -- it's quite challenging for this beginner, but I am really enjoying working on it.

I noticed that when you play the G chord you don't play the B string open, but instead play a D on that string. I can see that this makes sense from a chord POV, but all the chord charts I have seen, including the GT chord finder, show an open B string when playing a basic G chord. So why play it this way? Is it to get a slightly different tone on the chord?
