I second the recommendation to [u]just learn to play F[/u].

Pretty much everyone struggles with open F initially. But the fact is that if you want to play guitar, you'll have to learn it or you'll be avoiding a lot of songs you might like. Like C & G it features in many of the most popular chord progressions.

Once you commit to learning it, like most things once you achieve competency with it, and you will, you'll discover it wasn't as hard as you had thought.
