Hello all,

I'm a sort of newbie to guitar. I've tried a couple of times to learn guitar with no success and now at age 55, I'm going to make it. This time with the help of GT. I tried with just videos on line but did my research and GT is the top online place to learn.

So I've been at this for about 5 weeks. My main problem is I can't seem to build any callouss on my finger tips. I have a Squire bullet with factory strings. The action is pretty low and I'm wondering if I need to get a larger gage strings? I just ordered another guitar, a Epiphone sg because as much as I like the Fender I'm having a couple issues with it ( hitting the volume knob and the center pickup).

I've done construction all my life so my hands don't always work the way I want them to but I'm going to keep after it.
