Hello all,

I am an older guitar player, 43 , who is looking to learn correctly.

I played rythem guitar and sang in bands from 1996 to 2007 and I am looking to learn scales, theory, notes on the fret board and how to solo etc.. For example how to play a solo over chord changes.

Let me give a little back ground. I took about 4 lessons when I was 12 and learned the G,C and D chord. From there I just taught myself and learned by ear. Open chords I know are G,C,D,A,E,F,A-,E-,D- and I know bar chords but don't know the names of the bar chords up the neck. So I guess I am wondering where to start on Guitar Tricks? I don't have or play an acoustic. My playing style and interests are in the style of The Clash, New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers, The Stones, general older rock n roll/older punkish music, post punk, new wave etc.. And would eventually like to learn some songs by The Smiths. Johnny Marr is my favorite player. Can you guys or an instructor guide me where to start here? I am glad I found this site.

Thanks so much

Jason
