Hi ddomrath,

G major open chord can be pretty tough at first but you'll be able to get it with some practice.

Some quick tips:

1. Make sure your wrist is straight and your elbow isn't doing a chicken wing. Posture is really important for all of guitar playing and you'd be surprised at how much easier it is to play when you're holding the instrument correctly.

2. If you're trying to play a G major open chord, you might try reducing the fingers you use. Some folks play a G with 4 fingers, and if that's too tough, use just the 3 fingers.

3. Make sure your fingers are positioned in a way that they're rising straight up from the fretboard when you're holding down the strings. This is important so you don't accidentally mute the other strings. It may hurt and feel weird at first but with practice, you'll get it.

It's totally okay to review lessons too, check out Lisa's lesson on the G chord here: https://www.guitartricks.com/lesson.php?input=22145&s_id=1778
