Aaaah!!!
It's so good having Reggie to talk to but OMG this rough patch is a pain in the proverbial...
Sometimes you just have to attack it as a 'one-at-a-time' thing. Go very slow from one chord to another. Ignore getting the mute down. Then when you're good with that, practice muting seperately on a single barred chord...then eventually match them up...and so on.
It happens. I'm working up an acoustic Eagles-Desparado for something and there is a D7 in there that my brain just can't seem to grasp (my hand wants to do a standard open D and this is kinda reverse...) and there is a B7 open that I've just never played and not a natural place to go. So, I work on going from the preceding chord to the next...over and over and over...and I've been playing since 1981 (with a small amount of time off for good bahavior).
