Maybe it is a little early to combine lead and chords for me Im not sure. Say Im jamming using a minor pentatonic and I want to add chords in between licks. How can I do that? Should I know all the chords that go along with the specific key Im using or is there a simple way?

I'm not sure what your current skill & knowledge level is. With that in mind, here are two possible approaches or paths you can try here at GT.

1. Follow a style course!

The advantage here is you will be guided step by step, each lesson building on the next. Start with Blues, Country or Rock. They will show you how to play rhythm & lead guitar in those styles.

2. Go with individual tutorials.

The advantage here is you can get right to the skill you want. But it might not provide all the answers & depth you need to get there if you don't yet have the knowledge or skills. But you can find the answers right here at GT when you need them. :)

That tutorial is just the first one of a whole series I did aimed at covering how to play lead & rhythm guitar, if you are new to the idea. The rest of them are all here.
