Many 'popular musicians' are compensated/sponsered by instrument manufacturers. Perhaps the more popular the musicians are, the more compensation by the companies. This does not denigrate the instruments themselves but it does call into question the idea that if a popular musician is playing a particular brand then it is sufficient reason to buy the same, especially when brands on stage change because sponsership has.
It's one more thing potential customers have to take care about; like posts recommending commercial web sites.
