Hi LindaBer. This is a common issue, so you're not alone! When I first started playing, it was really strange learning a strum pattern and then jumping to a new song. Your muscles remember the last pattern you learned and it's hard to switch to another strum pattern for a new song after you've practiced so long on the other one.
Singing and playing is also difficult, I would wait until you're a bit more comfortable with the song before you start singing. With more practice, I promise, it will begin to click, and you'll be amazed at what you're able to do.
The best way I've learned to practice rhythm is the play the rhythm very very slowly, and then speed up bit by bit as you go.
You're not alone in your struggles LindaBer, I've been there! And chances are, a lot of other guitar players have been there too! Keep it up, and don't stress too much about it. You're doing the right things.
Cheers!
