I always pay attention to my English teacher. She has A 38-DD rack that commands attention.

I have a Squier and they are pretty good. They come with good pickups.

Squires are excellent beginner guitars because they are cheap, and have a pretty good strat sound, and when you get bored with it, you don't have to worry about selling something you have a grand tied up in. Lets face it most people who pick up the axe are gonna play a few times then go on to something else. You can always upgrade if you decide you wanna be a guitar hero.
