Hi everyone -- I'm Jeff from Raymore, Missouri, USA (near Kansas City). I am 44 years old and picked up a guitar for the first time a couple of weeks ago. My son (15) and I both got Squier Affinity Strats and we are trying to learn. We also got the game Rocksmisth, but it has become abundantly clear I need more than just that to learn to play. I started my trial a couple of days ago and I am working through the beginner courses now. Hoping this place helps me to get some progress soon (I'm a pretty persistent guy and I have been told that is most of the battle).

Right now I'm stuck on the whol Spider Legs exercise thing, I don't have any speed yet and my accuracy isn't great. I'm assuming that just comes with strengthening hands and developing better coordination with the guitar. I'm kind of hesitant to move on until I can do this accurately and in a reasonable rythm (not sure if that is the right approach or if I should just move on and keep practicing this as part of my warm ups).

Looking forward to learning more through this site and expect to join as a full member soon. Please let me know if you have any specific tips or ideas for me right off the bat to help speed up the initial learning curve.

Thanks --

Jeff
