I consider myself to still be an intermediate (maybe early-intermediate) player. I'm in the market for a new guitar. I'm wondering if get something with a different scale length and/or number of frets as my current guitar will it be counter productive (i.e., slow down the learning process)? I currently have a 25.5 inch 22 fret fender. I have tried different guitars at the local guitar center and naturally non-fender necks always feel different. What is hard to tell is if that is just a temporary feeling or not. I'm inclined not to risk it and go with an EVH, a Charvel, or another fender but I hate to eliminate so many other options. Any opinions on this dilemma are appreciated.
