That's a tricky one. ZZSmilieZZ

The vast majority of pop & rock songs use the guitar as an accompaniment instrument. The vocals almsot always carry the melody. The other instruments carry the rhythm. Even when you can find a guitar instrumental or one in which at least the guitar carries the melody instead of a vocal lyric it's probably got other instruments to carry the rhythm & harmony.

For example, these awesome surf tunes.

But even those might be a little past the beginner skill level.

If you work through the Guitar Fundamentals courses you will find some great examples of simple beginner songs. But most are not really guitar solo instrumentals.

Ultimately, the only genre of music that features the guitar as a solo instrument that carries the melody is classical. I have a few classical pieces that are aimed at beginner level skill. Give them a try & see that's what you are after!

Single note melody pieces & exercises.
