Firstly, any sort of solo in a song, be it guitar or harmonica for example is a good thing, it adds variety and the best solos give you time to ponder the lyrics. The reason the guitar solo is absent from a lot of present day music is because it requires a lot of skill and knowlegde of theory.

Nu-metal is a fad.

And while many young guitar players and practising hard to nail those one fingered riffs the delight should lie in the knowledge that they'll learn nothing from it, its a dying genre.

The sooner guns n roses get back on the scene the sooner kids will realise that guitar playing is about attitude, and from intelligently compiled songs you can learn and enjoy playing to a greater degree.

I hope to be in a band in the near future, one in the style of good old honest stadium rock!!
