They're just beatles wannabes, hell Liam named his son Lennon in tribute... I personally dont rate the beatles much, george harrison yes, definetely, he was very much a redeeming quality in my eyes. they wrote a few catchy tunes, but are just over hyped in my eyes.
I can hear beatles stylings all over any oasis tune, Noel Gallagher seriously needs to stop thinking he is the oracle of all knowlegde on rock bands, for a guy who recieves roughly equal amounts of criticism and praise for his songwriting skills he sure thinks he's untouchable
Personally I think most oasis tracks sound the same, my brother was a big fan but even he agrees that they're very one dimensional, if you want a good british rock band, check out travis, or Coldplay, at least they have some musical dynamism, I find with oasis, every slightly original tune they write suddenly turns into a 60's retro wannabe trip, I guess Noel writes a tune and doesnt think it has enough beatles cliche's so writes a few in
I personally enjoy playing lead guitar, not always widdly widdly solos, but a piece of music, if I feel satisfied, and enjoy playing then I cant complain, but I cant see how the guitarists of today feel the need and drive to leap about like lunatics to the sheer low level of the music they play.... hell maybe because of that accursed 'quiet to loud' dynamic everyone and his auntie seems to use, maybe they're just happy to be allowed to play!
