The difference between something like the Amazing Slowdowner and programs like Cooledit (Assuming it is like Logic Audio here) is that the Amazing slowdowner makes the changes in real time (while you listen), while the other programs actually make a new audio file and then you play it back. WHile the Amazing slowdowner can be useful, audio editing programs have much better sound quality and are not reliant on very fast processors to do all the calculations in time. Actually, it's probably an example of low tech answers being a lot easier. You can get tape players andrecord players with speed and pitch correction, which is a lot easier to adjust.
