Welcome Casey. Like you I started here with very little knowledge and I've learned so much in 3 months. It's amazing. I started on an acoustic and just recently bought my first electric. I went with an Ibanez GART60 and a Line 6 Spider IV 15 modelling amp. Everything I learned on the acoustic can be applied on the electric so don't worry about what you learn on. Just play and have fun. Like Ricky said the Affinity line from Squier is a good place to start. Guitar, amp, and other goodies in one pack. Epiphone also has some nice choices. Good luck and have fun.
